NFL Week 2 Recap, Lightning Strikes

images-2

The NFL’s week 2 is now in the books excluding Monday night’s game. The theme for this Sunday’s festivities…”Lightning!” Three separate instances of electric streaks.

There isn’t much that stops NFL games weather-wise, except, lightning. Both the Saints/Buccaneers and later in the evening the 49ers/Seahawks games both sustained delays due to the electricity in the air.

Then of course there was the San Diego Chargers striking a Bolt right across Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles bow. Pre game predictions ranged from Charges had no chance to they would give up 60 points, nope just put a beat down on the Eagles.

Of course with all the lightning going on my head starts playing a bunch of songs with Lightning or similar references in the title.

Metallica’s, “Ride the Lightening”

AC/DC’s, “High Voltage”

Ozzy Osbourne’s, “Lightning Strikes”

However, the song that truly stuck in my head all day was, Aerosmith’s, “Lightning Strikes.”

So here it is, Enjoy!

Chargers Win!
Chargers Win!

I think most of you who read this blog would agree music is the best ‘drug’ of all time…including our beloved morning coffee.

This series has been and will continue to be a public service for those of you trying to cut your caffeine intake, by enjoying some fast/energetic music…. ;)

…Or for those of you looking to enhance that morning cup.

I know the NFL already kicked off this past weekend, but, in San Diego tonight is the night! Not only opening night, but, Monday Night Football. How many of you do not get fired up when you hear this theme? Even non-football fans? For our friends across the pond they used it for a competition show called Superstars. I don’t know much about the show, but, if any of you do let us know in the comments, good or bad.

Some facts you might not know about the MNF theme music…

-The music was composed by British composer Johnny Pearson

-The music has been re-arranged, by other musicians, several times to keep it fresh

-The piece is entitled, “Heavy Action.”

You will definitely hear the 70’s in this version!!

Go Chargers!

Enjoy!

RIP Deacon Jones, NFL Great

DJI never met Deacon Jones. I never really saw him play…I was too young. He was, however, one of the characters of the game of football, as well as, one of the best defenders of all time. I was really sad to hear the news that he passed away on Monday.

A member of the Fearsome Foursome, Deacon Jones was a larger than life celebrity off the field, an American Icon in my opinion.

Rest in Peace, my friend

Victory Sunday in San Diego!

Woooow! This was a long time coming. The Chargers haven’t won a game in about 5 weeks.

Chargers Win!
Chargers Win!

As good as it was to see the boys take it to the Steelers, the ‘best’ thing for this franchise is to lose games. Then we can get rid of Norv, AJ, get a GOOD draft pick and start all over!

Even though the Chargers are better off losing I still can’t root for them to lose for those 3 hours every Sunday.

Victory Sunday Song! Chargers 34, Steelers 24

Chargers Back in Win Column, Beat Chiefs

Wow! This season has fell apart and I have to say it is time for the Norv era of Charger history come to an end despite a victory over one of the NFL’s weak sisters the Kansas City Chiefs.

After a month of losses and a bye victory does feel nice.

Enjoy it Bolt fans!

Chargers Win!

Chargers Beat Chiefs, Musical Tribute-Week Four 2012

Chargers rout Chiefs 37-20!

Well K. C. did do about everything they could do to give us the game but I’ll gladly take the win!

This win is sponsored by the song “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC…cause we all know when there is Thunder there is always Lightning!!!

Go Bolts!

San Diego Super Chargers Win Big on Junior Seau Day RIP #55

It was a dramatic and hot day for all us Charger fans at Qualcomm Stadium.

Dramatic! Before the game the late, great Junior Seau’s uniform #55 became the 3rd number in team history to be retired, joining Dan Fouts’ #14 and Lance Alworth’s #19.

Hot! It was mid 90’s without a cloud in the sky at kickoff, but, that didn’t keep the Chargers lightning from striking! Titans fell to the Chargers 38-10 in a game that wasn’t really ever close from the beginning.
