Chargers Win!
Chargers Win!

I think most of you who read this blog would agree music is the best ‘drug’ of all time…including our beloved morning coffee.

This series has been and will continue to be a public service for those of you trying to cut your caffeine intake, by enjoying some fast/energetic music…. ;)

…Or for those of you looking to enhance that morning cup.

I know the NFL already kicked off this past weekend, but, in San Diego tonight is the night! Not only opening night, but, Monday Night Football. How many of you do not get fired up when you hear this theme? Even non-football fans? For our friends across the pond they used it for a competition show called Superstars. I don’t know much about the show, but, if any of you do let us know in the comments, good or bad.

Some facts you might not know about the MNF theme music…

-The music was composed by British composer Johnny Pearson

-The music has been re-arranged, by other musicians, several times to keep it fresh

-The piece is entitled, “Heavy Action.”

You will definitely hear the 70’s in this version!!

Go Chargers!

Enjoy!

“Surfing With the Alien,” was Joe Satriani’s introduction to the mainstream in the late 1980’s. The title track from album same name started a revolution of guitar based rock/metal instrumentals.

This one always gets the blood flowing.

Happy Friday, Enjoy!

This song is not particularly fast, but, energetic… absolutely! Great solo from the legendary, and taken too soon from us, Stevie Ray Vaughan. RIP Aug 27, 1990

Gustav Holst, “Jupiter,” from, “The Planets.”

If you are unfamiliar with, “The Planets,” each planet was characterized musically. “Jupiter,” was composed as The Bringer of Jollity. This piece is fun and furious. Even the slower parts are dignified, stately and triumphant!

Do you think, “Star Wars,” composer John Williams mightn’t been influenced? hmmm

This video is another in the line of animated scores click here for others.

Happy Friday, Enjoy!

Better Than Coffee, Yngwie Malmsteen, Arpeggio Study

YngwieTodays, ‘Better Than Coffee,’ post features Yngwie Malmsteen’s arpeggio study dubbed, “Arpeggios From Hell.” Named both because of their difficulty and his penchant for heavy metal titles….

Yngwie performed in San Diego May 14 at House of Blues…an absolutely amazing show that I will write about shortly…keep any eye out for that.

Better than Coffee, Steve Vai-The Attitude Song

Guitar players will love this one….non musicians might want to put it on in the background and get used to it…great stuff!!

Or if you just like hats, watch the video….

Better Than Coffee, Vol. 2, Chopin

Chopin

A little blood pumping ‘classical’ music for your Monday morning. Chopin was actually a composer during the Romantic Period (1820-1910). He lived 39 short years, 1810-1849, but, left an amazing musical legacy in his piano works.

Better Than Coffee

Paul Gilbert playing, “Fuzz Universe.” Monday mornings are better with some shredding guitar!

He is part comedian, but, mostly an amazing guitarist, but, there is no doubt he spent lots of time perfecting his chops. You can hear both attributes in his style.

Here’s to a great week, Enjoy!
